There is a warning I will off to those looking to delve into the world of magic and occult studies.  It is not a safe trip.  It often involves destroying and rebuilding ones self to be more efficient in thought and energy use within the body and mind.  This causes what I refer to as “The Fall From Grace”.

The most noticeable of this is the state of depression you will fall into when you first start your journey.  If you are in the mainstream religion, to you this would be akin to turning away from God and taking your existence and responsibilities into your own hands.  Essentially you are removing yourself from the grace of God and falling away, much like the Fallen Angels.

For those who are not in a mainstream religion, it is less dramatic, but the dangers still exist.  What is occurring for every one is the fight of the ego.  It does not like being taken from the control it is in and being relegated to the back seat.  And this action will cause a struggle within.

As you get into magical practices, you are bringing your true self into the world, and putting the auto-pilot, aka ego away. It is my opinion that everyone born into this world has the choice to sleep and let the ego journey, or awake and take control.  So everyone born has an ego at the helm to protect itself thru incarnation.

The reason I am bringing this up is there will come a time when the last ditch effort of the ego is to kill itself. And if your Higher Self is not in enough control (and more often then not, it is not at that level yet) it could succeed or cause considerable damage.  Having someone or someway of ensuring your survival thru this period is recommended.

Once you clear that hurdle, you generally will never experience it again unless you bail out of the fall and return back to the faith you were originally on.  Just keep in mind, should you attempt the fall again in the future, this will be waiting for you.

For one last point of interest, the depression you will be feeling is akin to what you felt going thru puberty, your brain is trying to cope with the new changes it is undergoing. If you are someone who is seeking this information out as you are entering puberty, your journey will be even harder, but not insurmountable.  You need to keep in mind you are undergoing both a chemical and a mental change at the same time, and it will all pass by.

And remember, others have been where you will be and have made the journey just fine.
